A memorial service, organized by Three Parks Independent Democrats, will take place on Sun., Oct. 1, at 4:00 p.m., at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church; the entrance is on Amsterdam Ave. near the corner of W. 100th St.

In addition, a local poetry group, the Thursday Morning Poets, plans a tribute to Cynthia on Sat., Sept. 30, 1 p.m., at the community flower garden adjacent to Hippo Park, inside Riverside Park at W. 91st St. For more information, contact isabooklady@aol.com.

Summertime means Yard Sale planning time on the block. On SUNDAY October 1st from 10 am to 5pm the block will fill with more than 60 vendors selling everything from vintage Depres-
sion-era glass to outgrown children’s toys. It’s a day of music, fun, amazing finds, and delicious food.

Let your neighbors taste your special homemade brownies, cupcakes, pies, cookies, and breads–as well as savories such as pizza and quiche–fresh from your oven.

Let us know what you plan to bake. Or, if you have a sudden inspiration, just bring your creations to the Bake Sale on October 1 after 9:00 AM. Feel free to stay and help us staff the table.
