Hi Everyone,
Here are some items of interest:
1. Neighborhood Daffodil Planting: Saturday, November 12 10am – 3pm
Please join your neighbors on Saturday, November 12 from 10AM – 3PM for a daffodil planting party. The block association acquired 50 free daffodil bulbs via the NYC Parks Department’s Daffodil Project and we purchased an additional 300 bulbs. We have all the gardening equipment; you only need to bring your community spirit. Children are welcome under supervision of an adult.
This is a great way to meet your neighbors and have some fun! Your efforts will be seen by all in the spring. We will have a block association table as well selling T-shirts and tote bags.
If you cannot attend on November 12 but would like to help, let us know. We may have some bulbs left over to be planted later in the week.
If you are willing to help, please contact Mary Koval at mtkoval@aol.com.
2. Westside Campaign Against Hunger: Concert Thursday, November 3 at 7:30pm @ Broadway Presbyterian Church, 114th St. and Broadway
Please join Music for Food, NYC, Westside Campaign Against Hunger’s concert in which 100% of your donation will go to a designated pantry for food. Esteemed violist Kim Kashkashian and violinist Alexi Kenney along with cellist Marcy Rosen and pianist Renana Gutman will perform music by Bach, Mozart, and the revolutionary piano trio by Charles Ives. The Peabody Trio will also perform.
Please attend this great concert for a worthy cause!
3. Tri-Bloomingdale “Blooming on Ice” Group Begins Regular Wednesday Ice Skating Fun.
One of our collaborative activities with the 102/103rd Streets Block Association and the Bloomingdale Aging in Place, “Blooming on Ice,” begins meeting on Wednesday, November 9. The ice skating takes place at the Lasker Rink in Central Park. The admission at Lasker is $2.25 for seniors and $8 for adults. Ice skates can be rented. Of course, each individual is responsible for their own safety.
If you have an interest in joining the group, please email Mary Koval at mtkoval@aol.com Details of time and meeting place will be sent.
4. Election Day: Tuesday, November 8
No matter who your candidate, please remember to vote! It is our civic duty and a right which was fought for by many before us.
If you have an item for the next blast/newsletter OR you are an artist in which you have an upcoming exhibit, show, concert, etc. please let me know at mtkoval@aol.com
Finally, if you have not made a 2016 contribution to the block association, please take a moment to do so now. Your donation helps pay for the daffodil bulbs, the summer flowers, the newsletters, and the security guard. If you have made a contribution, WE THANK YOU!
Best regards,
Mary Koval, President West 104th Street Block Association
