Come with us on our Inaugural Bird Watching Event
Sunday, April 28th 9am Rain or Shine
Riverside Drive Benches at 104 Street
Join us for a walk up Riverside Park from 103rd to 122nd street (Grant Memorial) to look for birds during the spring migration. The walk should last around two hours. Many people don’t know there are many more birds in NYC than house sparrows, pigeons, and that blue jay screaming outside your window at seven in the morning. Spring migration is starting and now is the best time to see colorful warblers and other migrants pass through the city. Besides the smaller birds, we may also spot the Red-Tailed Hawks and Peregrine Falcons that usually nest at the Grant Memorial and Riverside Church. An RSVP to Peter Littlewood is good but not required. Bring binoculars if you have them (we’ll have a few extras) and dress for the weather. You may also want to download one of the free birding apps to your phone (Peter uses “Audubon Birds of Central Park”, which he thinks may be free).
If you can’t make it but would be interested in meeting other birders or learning about free birding resources in the area, feel free to reach out as well.
We thank you for your support,….donations always welcome!
